THE STUDENT ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE!!!
This 14 person strong committee is there to support the VPSA and Executive members in the day to day running of the SA Department. They all have their own remits, as detailed below and work as a team to ensure to correct promotion and development of both sports and societies.
FINANCE OFFICERS: Becky Baxter and Alan Lee 'Team Finance'
Responsibilities
- To liaise with Producers of productions and ensure that suitable budgets are being drawn up and met – including any production from any society that goes to the Edinburgh Festival under the name of a RHUL Society.
- To choose two societies (not including MTS) and two clubs (not including Men’s Football) to actively help get out of debt.
- To help Men’s Football and MTS organise one fundraising event a year to help write off their respective debts
EVENTS REP: Jess Quiligotti, Rupert Dickenson, Wendy Tang
Responsibilities:
- All four reps will work as a team collectively organising events that fall under the remit of the Student Activities Department.
- All four reps are to help the VPSA organise the Societies and Colours Ball. The VPSA would liaise with the hotel and Sue Spitari regarding the contract of the hotel. All decisions regarding the Balls need to be signed off by the VPSA
- The four reps will be responsible for organising two Come in Your Kit night’s
- All four events reps will be responsible for promoting the various ways in which clubs and societies can hold their own events in the SU. One events rep would be assigned to each project to offer guidance and help them with ideas. This includes launch nights for productions.
COMMUNICATIONS OFFICERS: Dale Bancroft, Jon Bates, Laura Blott
Responsibilities:
Between three officers they are responsible for:
- writing one match report a week, submitting this to the Sports Development Executive and putting it on the AU webpage of the SURHUL website
- updating the Students Activities Department section of the SURHUL webpage
- writing reviews of all productions
- advertising all AU/SF events
- promoting one club and one society every week in the Orbital
- to liaise with the Orbital Editor in order to provide the Orbital with what they need
RAG REP: Saman Bhatti
Voted in by General Meeting
Would not sit on the RAG board
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with ‘Right to Play’, the chosen Athletic Union charity to help promote ‘Right to Play’ on campus
- Would organise the RAG Triathlon and Right to Play Day
- Would organise one large charity challenge a year
- Would help any club or society who wanted to raise money for any cause

SPORTS CO-ORINATORS: Maz Mortimer, Matt McKeever
- One role would be in charge of representing all non-BUCS competing sports clubs – this includes all Martial Arts, Cheerleading, American Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Boots, Riding and Ski and Snowboard
- The second role would be responsible for representing all the BUCS competing sports. They would ensure that these clubs are entering into as many BUCS competitions as possible. This role WOULD NOT be responsible for those teams on the performance package.
SOCIETY CO-ORDINATORS: Peter Browning, Emilie Baines
- Would divide the societies between the two roles and they are a point of contact for them all
- Responsible for looking after new societies
- Together with the SF Officer the Sports Co-ordinators would be responsible for helping their respective societies with their development plans
- Would meet with new productions teams to help them with their plans – this includes ensuring societies have all the relevant risk assessments ready
- Would attend a bids meeting in the absence of the VPSA or the Societies Federation Officer.
