Student Development

Development is the 4th section of the VPSA's role. This includes insuring that all other areas (clubs, societies and volunteering) are constantly developing and improving. This year Emma has also increased the amount of information available to students in reference to how they can build their CV's.

Projects this year:

DUKE OF EDINBURGH

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is now on campus!! There are 4 sections of the award; skills, sports, expedition and volunteering. If you want to get involved you can now sign off each section through Emma or Phil Simcock.

Section 1:

Sports: We have 35 clubs that students can get involved with. We can monitor who joins each club and therefore sign off on their hours of involvement based on the amount of training or games they attend.

Skill: This is very easily covered through one of our 53 societies. Like clubs, we can also monitor who joins and then check with the president of each society as to who attends which part.

Volunteering: we have hundreds of projects throughout the year that students can be a part of. Either Emma or Phil can see who has registered as a volunteer either through being part of a large group or as an individual.

Expedition: As mentioned we do have Duke of Edinburgh on campus! So now there are weekly Expedition training meetings with Dan, our Duke of Edinburgh leader. He is training students on how to carry out an expedition and ensuring they are all up to scratch before taking them out into the wild!!

From speaking to employers Duke of Edinburgh looks so great on CVs so if you want to get involved please contact Emma Montague on vpsa@su.rhul.ac.uk. Or Dan on dofe@su.rhul.ac.uk.
