SURHUL CAMPAIGNS

Hi I am Jade, and I am Campaigns Officer for the current academic year.  The Studens' Union runs campaigns throughout the year that aim to improve and enhance your rights and quality of life both on campus and as a student in a national context.  This page will tell you a little bit about what we have got on the horizon for campaigns this year, and how to get invovled.

 Keep Your Cap on!

2009 sees the government review on lifting the cap on tuition fees. This is a huge campaign that will affect all of our students, whether home and EU or international. It is vital that we campaign, alongside the NUS, against the marketisation of education. It will affect us all, and will affect our brothers and sisters, friends and families and eventually our children, and have a detrimental effect on the accessibility of higher education to younger generations.

This year will see local events by the SU in support of this campaign, as well as our support to larger, national events. External speakers, debates and the re-launch of our ever exciting campaign stunts team is bound to see an exciting time of change to the face of our campaigns.

Your Union Loves You

This year sees the launch of the Your Union Loves You campaign. Your union is here, working for you with everything that it does. It is a not for profit organisation, so all the money you put it through the bars and our commercial outlets is automatically given back to you in the form of our welfare services as well as the clubs and societies. To remind you of this, the Your Union Loves You campaign will operate throughout the year, demonstrating every service that the Union has to offer and encouraging you to get involved with the Union and participate.

This campaign also ensures that the Union is constantly looking to provide you with what you want so throughout the year we will be asking you what you think of what we offer and where you would like us to improve.
