Hello All!
Well I’ve been ever so productive since I last blogged. As mentioned in my previous post, we have ‘Get Involved Week’ which ended with ‘MAD Day’. The whole week went so well, thank you to everyone who got involved.
Also in that week was the launch of Duke Of Edinburgh!! I spent many painfully hours editing an exciting and powerful video about the scheme to be played at the launch and everyone loved it! The launch went really well and we had lots of interest and anyone who missed the launch and wants to know more, do not hesitate to contact me.
As well as my weekly meetings, I have also currently been working on setting up Volunteering Forums for clubs & societies which will launch this coming week after AUC on Monday and SFC on Thursday. The forums aim to provide a platform for both clubs and societies to discuss any volunteering projects they have been working on as well as discussing future events and projects they want to run. If you are interesting in volunteering with your club or society or have any ideas for projects then let your club or soc committee know or contact me! it would be great to see loads of projects and events running this year.
Finally, as you may have seen, it is the week of the Poppy Appeal for which myself and the rest of the elected officers are volunteering to sell poppies across Englefield Green. So if you see us about and don’t have your poppy yet - come and get one!

8th November, 2009.
This has been a very busy week FULL of meetings. As well as attending weekly exec meeting, I also attended the monthly Ethics & Environmental Sub-committee, which was very productive – as mentioned before watch out for the 10/10 campaign, coming soon!! I also went to the monthly AUC and SFC and for the first time ever held my own meeting – the Volunteering Forum!
I held two Volunteering Forums, one for sports and one for societies. Although not all clubs and societies were represented, the forums went really well. I received a lot of really productive feedback about how your clubs and societies want to get involved in volunteering and the types of projects they want to get running. This lead to the idea of a Christmas Cheer-up day on campus in December for the local community, watch this space for info on that. And if YOU want to get involved in Volunteering in YOUR club or society and want YOUR say, let YOUR club/soc know and make sure they’re represented at the forum!
This morning I also went to the Remembrance Sunday Service in Englefield Green with James, Charlotte, Emma and Rachel which was lovely.
For those who have had reading week – I hope you’ve all been hard at work!
Now off for an SAC social!

It was also Bears Day on Wednesday the 11th which was AWESOME! I went down to go watch some sports fixtures including Womens Badminton vs Reading and we were welcomed with the presence of the mighty COLOSSUS D BEAR!!
Also coming up we have the launch of the 10/10 Campaign on the 24th Novemeber. Well last weeks launch of the 10/10 Campaign was an absolute SUCCESS!! Hundreds of people, both students and academics, flocked to the green lit Windsor Building for the screening of The Age Of STupid and the fairtrade reception that followed. I pranced around all day in my green 10/10 t-shirt, covered in green face paint and hair dye and i had a great time!! the film was moving and powerful and by the end i think the whole auditorium felt enpowered to make a difference!
In oither news, Christmas is upon us and there is much Christmas Volunteering to be done!! for more information visit http://www.rhul.ac.uk/Services/Volunteering/Christmas.html or email myself of Phil Simcock.

7th December 2009.
Things are all busy on the union front as the autumn term draws to a close. In the past week I have attended the General Meeting where more exciting and important motions were passed and we had a chilling announcement from scrutiny and accountability to say ‘they are watching us!’ I also attended ethics & environmental subcommittee where we discussed Go Green Week (Feb 2010) and lots of exciting ideas have been floating around.
Last week was SHAG week, which was AWESOME!! I hope everyone got involved and got their SHAG t-shirts!!
This week is full of Christmas activity to round off the term. Don’t forget to come down to Santa’s Workshop on Wednesday in the main hall. The community action team have been working really hard on it and there will be lots of festive fun to be had.
Other things I have been working on include the Volunteering Forums which are this week (after AUC and SFC), if theres anything you want raised, let your club or society committee know.
Finally, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a holly-jolly New Year!!

23 February 2010
Hi all.
Many things have been going on these past few weeks. We had RAG week at the end of January in which we supported the charity Beat Bullying. I help Charlotte during the week bucketing for the charity and I also helped organise the training day on the Wednesday for cybermentoring. There was a great turn out for the cybermentor training and there is now a number of rhul students qualified to mentor children who are being bullied online.
The beginning of February also saw the SABB elections for 2010/11. There were a huge number of candidates who ran which was awesome and along with attending candidates question time, I also took part in the counting of the votes for this election – what a job that was! Well done to everyone involved!
There are still many more things to come before the easter break – this week is student volunteering week so I have been working with Emma and Phil Simock to get clubs and societies to take part in the Big Spring Clean this Wednesday and Friday.
At the last general meeting we also elected a new RAG Chair – Ben Parfitt – I have been working with ben on orgaising evetns for the next RAG day which is 19th March, in support of Right To Play. There are going to be many activities and events running on this day so get involved!!
Finally, I have been working on a project I am aiming to run in summer term which I am currently calling ‘Outreach Day.’ On this day I aim to get students from local schools and colleges on to campus to take part in a series of taster sessions and workshops with our clubs and societies in order for the local community to see what we can do and also to give these children a chance to explore and experience the extra-curricular activities we have here at RHUL.
Don’t forget, Exec, Rag & Media elections nominations opened this Monday, so if you fancy running for anything, pick up a pack from the SU reception and feel free to ask any of us about our positions!
