Later that evening we've got the international forum which I am chairing. very excited. my first ever forum to chair. so please come down to the international building at 6pm and have ur say on international matters!
Tomorrow's the launch of the I&R senates campaign. You'll see a bunch of us around taking pictures. Get involved. Have your picture taken - we're making a collage of these pictures and putting them up in the UNION! So be sure to look out for your face on FRIDAY NIGHT!

14th February, 2010
Hey guys!! It has been such a hectic past two weeks with Sabb elections (which I hope you all voted in because atleast all that hassle would have been worth while) but now it's time to get down to business.
first things first - HAPPY CHINESE, JAPANESE AND KOREAN NEW YEAR!!! Hopefully you all know about all the wonderful things happening in London's China Town this time around and will take the opportunity to make a mini trip down to london for it. Fireworks and yummy food, what more could you want! :D
secondly, Happy Valentines Day to all of ya'll celebrating. I think a trip down to the cinema to watch 'Valentines Day' is what's in store for me. Hah haha.
Anyway, I hope you're all very very excited for the 1st of March which is when... our CULTURE WEEK campaign is launched!! I am. i shall keep you all posted on the happenings of that week - and I promise it's gonna be super fun!
Bye for now!
P.S. IT'S MY BIRTHDAY TOMORROWW!! AHHHHHHHH :) i am calm now.
1st February, 2010
HAPPY NEW MONTH!! February is by far my most favourite month in the year :) and this months plan to be very very very busy.
But i'm getting ahead of myself. This past week has been packed with all kinds of campaigns.
1. NSS survey. (National Student Survey) - we tried to usher as many of you as possible into the Windsor building to fill out this survey. I am telling you it honestly takes 5 minutes to do - also the incentive is the raffle draw with summer ball tickets as the prize - because honestly who wants to queue outside the SU at 4am trying to get those tickets again this year :D (though it is quite fun). also if you haven't done it, you will be pestered until you do - and not by us. So i would strongly recommend you do it before you get 7am phone calls.
2. The Help Us Learn Campaign - Hardeep and Charlotte's campaign baby! Which I think was a massive success. We got the postcards out there informing students about the 5 (and a half) things that college has promised to provide us as students! So make sure you're getting them academically - off the top of my head : face to face feedback, more accessible staff, more commitment to online resources, publicising all hidden course costs, feedback on exams (which is still pending).
3. RAG!! It was what I can only hope, an extremely successful RAG week. From Union nights (be a hero) to Charity Auctions (I almost bought the entire backetball team! ahah, i mean who wouldnt want the basketball team ;) ). We were raising money for the beat bullying campaign.
on that note, we also had beat bullying cybermentor training!! which was actually quite insightful. I'd encourage all of you to get involved!
On a more international level, I had a chat with the International sector of college about Chinese, Japanese and Korean New Year. It's in 2 weeks!! However, with sooo much happening in london, we wouldn't be able to provide a night as amazing as what you could experience in London, so.... we're looking into alternatives to this - watch this space! or the one above it actually.
Other than that.. we've got elections just around the corner. by that i mean in 2 days.. ahhh!! i hope you're all thoroughly excited about voting all over again!!
more soon! xxx
AH! so it's my first blog of 2010! How exciting is this? to many of you - not very exciting. to me however.. ahhhhh..
Home was awesome, if any of you were wondering, but it's wonderful to be back, even though it's been slightly crazy with all the snow - but i love it! esp. cause we dont have snow in sri lanka. haha..
This term plans to be action packed - hopefully the slang book will be out and amusing by the end of this month.
February's got Chinese, Japanese and Korean New Year, and i would love to hear about any ideas for the night (it's from the 14th-16th). President's from those societies, expect e-mails from me shortly.

1st DECEMBER, 2009
Happy 1st of December. I quite miss home today, with the term about to end and everyhing, Christmas in Sri Lanka is so warm and happy :) sighhh
Not to worry.. guess what??!? it's SHAG WEEK!!! i love it!! REMEBER: if you plan on having sex, and i'm sure you are - USE A CONDOM. that's pretty much all there is too it. =D
There'll be loads of SHAG events happening this week - and tshirts on sale as well!! they're PINK this year! - off the top of my head, tonight's a RAINBOW RAVE in medicine, tomorrows the FULL MOON TOGA PARTY, ... ok i have a terrible memory.. i'l be back with more events.
hope to see loads of you out and about this week... we've only got two left before the term's over!!! aaahhhh
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am very exicted as I haven't celebrated thanksgiving since i moved from canada. all the turkey and potatoes. yum. =)
for any of you that are celebrating, and i'm sure there are quite a few. If you're much too lazy to cook, not to worry the HUB is doing Thanksgiving lunch and dinner today! :)
Hello all! Today is the launch of our 10:10 campaign - you'll probably notice all the people in green tshirts (we're also giving away free tshirts!) and boats in trees and just green green green! basically it's a campaign to help us all get rid of 10% of carbon emissions by the year 2010! to start off the campaign we're showing this cool mockumentary about what the world'll be in 2055 if we continue on like this - and trust me, it isn't a pretty sight.
hope to see loads of you at the windsor auditorium at 6pm tonight!! xxxxxxxx
Soooooooooooo.. after a bit of blog-stalking my fellow exec members I've decided I'm quite pleased with myself and the number of blogs I've written these last few months.
Over to more exec-oriented news, not much has been happening in my department. It's been a tame two weeks. My dissertation seems to be taking over my life and destroying it slowly but surely, but that just means I'm on the right path as a 3rd Year University student.
What I've been meaning to do is e-mail all the International Society Presidents so they'll know who I am/help me out/let me help them out with any up coming festivals or cultural evenings. - So I shall add that to my to-do list.
I'm not sure how many people read this, but I was wondering how people would feel about an international fashion show - perhaps a mini one during culture week? or even try to convince the fashion society to have an international collection/international models? - I'm secretly loving it. America's Next Top Model's getting the best of me. :)
Anwyay, send me an e-mail if you read this, just so i know someone is. Also because no one mails me on this email addy and it's so cool right? - international@su.rhul.ac.uk
Over and Out!
